2011 Fairbury Fair Youth Talent Contest Rules


Thursday, August 18, 2011 - 7:00p.m.
3 Divisions: Junior 10 & under, Junior 11-14, Senior 15-21


Winners in each division will receive the following:
1st place $75.00 and trophy; 2nd place $45.00; and 3rd place $25.00.
The top scorer from the combined Junior Division and the top scorer from the Senior division will represent the
Fairbury Fair in competition at the annual meeting of the Illinois Association of Agricultural Fairs in January of 2012.
The Fairbury Fair Association will pay the $75.00 entry fee to sponsor the winners at the competition.

1) A contestant may enter in only one act.
2) An entry fee of $10.00 per act MUST accompany each form. No entries will be accepted without the $10.00 entry fee.

3) Junior and Senior age information:
..........A) All entries who are 10 and under or 11-14 by October 1, 2011 will compete in the Junior Division.
..........B) All entries who are between 15-21 years of age by October 1, 2011 will compete in the Senior Division.
..........C) If the act is a group act, the age of the oldest contestant determines the division the act competes in.
4) Professional entertainers are not eligible for competition.
5 ) Any act the exceeds the four minute performance time limit will de disqualified.
6 ) A setup time of three minutes will be allowed.
7 ) A five minute rehearsal will be allowed per act the afternoon of the 18th. You will receive notification of this time by August 12th.
8 ) All contestants must supply their own equipment with the exception of a Piano. If using a cassette tape or CD there MUST NOT be like talent .....on the tape: i.e. vocals, tap, instrument.
9) Any contestants who elect not to report for rehearsal must report to the grandstand stage as follows: Junior Division by 6:00pm, Senior Division 6:30pm.
10) First place winners from each division at the 2009 contest will be ineligible for the 2011 contest. For the Junior Division this pertains to the ......COMBINED TOP SCORER THAT REPRESENTED THE FAIR AT THE STATE CONTEST. First place winners from 2010 may not return to the 2011 contest, even in a different type of group or act.
11) There will be a panel of judges and their decision will be final. No Judges Score Sheet will be available to any contestants following the contest. .... .Comment sheets will be available.
12) Judging is based on Appearance-5 points, Stage Presentation-15 points, Audience Appeal-5 points, Ability-25 points.
13) Talent show directors should be informed the day of the show if contestants will not be able to represent the Fairbury Fair at the State ......competition.
